We’re proud to support
The Fishermen’s Mission

Set up in 1881 by Ebenezer Mather, the National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen, was established to provide a ministry to fishermen and help improve their health. In 2006, the name was changed to The Fishermen’s Mission or, as many people use today… the #FishMish, but the principal remains the same – The Fishermen’s Mission is the only national charity that works solely to support fishermen and their families,  offering practical, financial or emotional support in times of need to everyone in the fishing community.

Founded November 1881.

Many of our members already support the #FishMish with charity fundraisers or simply having their own ‘Albert’, the official collection box, on their counters. Knowing that the #FishMish is there to help fishermen and their families when its most needed seems really relevant to our industry and any help we can offer is always gratefully received If you would like to get involved with fundraising, or you don’t yet have an Albert, then get in touch with our Partnership Manager Dean Lawrence via email:  deanlawrence@fishermensmission.org.uk

How they help…

They are here to help. Practical, financial or emotional support is always available.

Whatever you need, the Fishermen’s Mission aims to go above and beyond for fishermen and their families.

24-hour emergency support to help with accidents or illness when out at sea.

Fishing is the most dangerous occupation in the world. Accidents, emergencies, and loss at sea happen more regularly to fishermen than to anyone else. Harsh weather, scarcity of fish, and unpredictable markets often mean earning a living from fishing is at best precarious.

They are here to support – on the waves, on the quayside, and in the home

Their team are on hand to advise, support and help wherever they can. If you would like to know more about them or have a question then give them a call, or send an email.

If you need their support, you can call/email them, or go to the Get Support page to find your nearest member of Port Staff.
