Seafish’s online study packs are available free of charge. During 2021/22 Seafish are also fully funding the online exam that is the gateway to a nationally recognised, regulated qualification. Here are the details:
The two training programmes are Elementary (Level 2) Food Hygiene and Elementary (Level 2) Health and Safety.
A learner can access the free online food hygiene study materials from this Seafish webpage. The instructions include a downloadable study log sheet along with a GDPR form which the learner must complete before they take the invigilated online exam.
To undertake the health and safety programme follow this link.
Learners must have access to Zoom (available free of charge) or Microsoft Teams to complete the 30 minute invigilated exam which consists of 30 multiple-choice questions for the qualification. The pass mark is 60%. The funding support that Seafish have in place to ensure that the programme is free, is valued at around £60 for the free online study materials, the exam and the nationally recognised qualification.
Only when the learners start the last chapter of each pack, do they need to email firstname.lastname@example.org and tell Seafish that they are almost ready for their exam. At that point Seafish will then ask one of their approved invigilators to contact the learner, to organise the invigilated exam.
Learners will require an electronic device such as a desktop, laptop or tablet with a functioning webcam and microphone as they will need to maintain a live audio and video feed with the invigilator throughout the online exam.
At the time of writing, almost 1000 online invigilated exams have been carried out by Seafish invigilators across the whole UK and for all sectors of the seafood industry. The process is straightforward and you will be assisted at each step in the process so why not give it a go?
